Erika Cecon

Graduated in Biology in 2007, at the Institute of Biosciences from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil). She obtained her PhD in Animal Physiology in 2014, by the University of Sao Paulo; and joined the group of Dr. Ralf Jockers at the Institute Cochin (Paris, France) for her post-doctoral experience, from 2014 to 2020. Since 2020 she is a permanent researcher from the Centre National pour la recherche Scientifique (CNRS), working in the group of Dr. Ralf Jockers at the Institute Cochin. Her main domains of expertise are on the physiology of circadian rhythms, on the regulation of the production and effects of the hormone melatonin, as well as on the molecular basis of melatonin receptors activation that mediates melatonin function. Her main research interests are on investigating the signaling function of membrane receptors and the mechanisms through which their function can be modified in pathological conditions such as in metabolic and in neurodegenerative diseases.
